Website Traffic Generation – Classified Ads

July 29th, 2010

Classified advertising have been with us for the past many years, even before most of us were even born.

Before the web came along, classified ads can be seen on newspaper that we read everyday. Even when the internet came into this world, classified ads never did die with the web but instead they went online.

Today thousands of Classified Advertising websites can be seen on internet and one of the best I found so far is at http://www.craigslist.com/. This site is very popular with search engines and posting your ads on Craigslist can get pick up by search engines.

But you have to be careful though when posting your ads there as the community is self-moderating and could get your ads deleted if they think it’s a spam.

So read the rules before you start posting your ads and if you follow them, you’ll be safe.

Make your ads look professional, post it in the correct category and it will have the better chance getting accepted and your ads will be crawled by search engines spiders.

The best way to write your ads on Craigslist is to write in a similar way to writing articles but don’t have to be as long, and the rules to write good articles will also apply to when writing your ad copy on Craigslist, and that is:

  • Use your keyword in the title.
  • Use the keyword more often in the body.
  • Use your keyword in the link text.

The purpose of doing these is to get the search engines spiders to find your ad and send visitors to your site. You’ll get visitors both from the search engines and from Craigslist users.

Oh by the way, it’s free for small business owners to post ads on Craigslist.

Good luck.

Website Traffic Generation – Article Marketing

July 22nd, 2010

This traffic generation method has proven to work for many years and it’s still going strong. When you have good helpful articles written, someone out there will have your article reprinted on their websites and get visitors to your site from places you can never imagine.

The procedure of article marketing is simple:

  • Write an article targeting at least one or two targeted keywords. Use the keyword in your title and often in the body.
  • Your articles need to be about 350-500 words.
  • Include an ‘author bio box’ at the bottom of your article with a link back to your website. So when someone reprints your article, your bio box will be there with it.
  • Post it to article directories that rank high on search engines.

 Your articles can be about:

  • Product review. Write about the product that you’ve used and give the pros and cons. Of course, the product should be the one that you are trying to promote.
  • Article based on a list of links that you found to be useful.
  • Lists of traffic generation methods.
  • “Top Ten Marketing Tools”.
  • List of mistakes marketers made.
  • “How To” articles that help to solve problems.

The list could go on. The best articles will be the one that present the solution to a problem.

After you have written an article, consider using a tool that ‘spins’ your article to various version so that each article directory that you submit have the different kind of articles.

Google doesn’t like duplicate content and submitting the same version of article will do a little help to bring traffic to your website. But with many different version using the same keyword, more of your articles can get pick up by search engines when someone search for your information.

Here’s the link where you can spin your articles:

Here are some of the best article directories that I found:

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Website Traffic Generation – Direct Link Building

July 19th, 2010

Getting a high page rank for your website gives you two things.

  1. Your website will be place at the top in search engine directory.
  2. You will get lots of visitors going to your website.

One of the methods that involve in determining of your website’s page rank is getting lots of links pointing to your website.

Search engines love pages with lots of incoming links especially a one-way inbound links, the one that come from pages that you don’t link back. An example of a one-way link will be an article that you submit to article directory where you have a link in your ‘author bio box’ that is pointing to your website.

So submitting your articles to many article directories will be a good thing for your website, building a one-way link pointing to your website. But of course this takes time.

I found a website that builds the one-way links for you at no cost. I’ve been using their services for years and so far till now it have been doing a good job.

You can find the website at Linkserp.com.

But getting the two-way link also helps. This is where you exchange links with other website owners and places their link in your website and in return they place your link on their website. You can find lots of website out there that are willing to do link exchange with you.

I would suggest that you build a separate page on your website to place links of others whenever you do a link exchange, and make sure you check the other webmaster’s website to see that they place your link there permanently.

Do leave your email address and maybe a message at that page saying that you are willing to do link exchange with others, so when other webmasters visit your website they will send you an email request to exchange links with you.

This link building process takes time. But doing a little everyday will grow your links to thousands and it worth.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Best of luck!

Website Traffic Generation – Ebay

July 5th, 2010

Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/) has more than 100 million registered users and gets more traffic than Google does. It has a great potential traffic for you.

We all thought that ebay is only for selling old stuff that we don’t use any more but it actually can be a great place for you to get traffic going to your website.

This is how it works.

  • Create a simple report about your niche. It can be a list of useful resources or useful marketing tools etc, anything that is very helpful for others to use on their marketing campaign. Make sure you place a link to your website in the report.
  • Put up for auction at low price and sell for below $5.00 and include resale rights to your report.
  • Create an ‘About Me’ page that has a link to your site and link the page to your auctions.
  • When someone buys give the download link through email, that’s how the deal is done when you buy or sell on ebay.

At most cases, people won’t mind spending a few bucks for something that is at a very low price and of course if they feel that your report is worth buying.

Your traffic will come from the buyers who see your link in the report. From people your buyers resell the report to and from people visiting your auction from the ‘About Me’ page.

Well, as you can see it’s a very simple strategy and most people don’t really know about it.

Hope this information is useful to you.

Good luck.
